About Richard Davis
I was born and raised in Barre, Vermont, a small town of about 8500 residents.
I come from a family of lawyers and judges, going back to my great-grand father, who studied law in the office of George N. Dale of Island Pond while he was Principal of Island Pond High School. He was admitted to the practice of law on October 14, 1898.
I was educated at Johnson State College, Boston University, George Washington University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where I received a Juris Doctorate in December, 1986.
After passing the Vermont bar in February 1987, I fulfilled my boyhood dream of working for my father until his death in 1993.
Following my father’s death, I operated my own law firm in Barre for 23 years. During this time, I served as president of the Washington County Bar Association and the Barre Kiwanis Club.
While I was practicing in Barre, Judges often assigned cases to me wherein I represented indigent clients, including one involving a young boy whose mother put him up for adoption and then absconded with his personal injury settlement with her new boyfriend. I was able to successfully recover all the funds stolen from him by suing the insurance company that had contracted to protect his money. This was just one of the many clients it was my great privilege and honor to have successfully represented.
In 2015, my wife and I moved to Oregon to begin a new adventure in our lives and make Oregon our permanent home. Along with our two cats and dog, we are now happy residents of Troutdale.
After working at Clark Law & Associates in Portland for six years, I opened my own law office here in Troutdale.
My hobbies include reading history and biographies, hiking, music, cooking and travelling.
